Accessibility Statement

Our Commitment
Made For Law is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We believe everyone — regardless of ability — deserves equal access to accurate legal information. We continually improve the user experience for all visitors and apply relevant accessibility standards across our website and tools.
Conformance Standard
We target conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.
What We Do
- Semantic HTML: We use proper heading hierarchy, landmark regions, ARIA labels, and semantic elements throughout all pages and tools.
- Keyboard navigation: All interactive elements (calculators, forms, navigation, accordions) are fully operable via keyboard.
- Color contrast: Text and interactive elements meet WCAG AA contrast ratios (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text).
- Responsive design: All pages and tools work on mobile devices, tablets, and desktop screens from 320px width and up.
- Image alternatives: All meaningful images include descriptive alt text. Decorative images are marked with empty alt attributes.
- Form labels: All form inputs in our calculators have associated labels and clear error messaging.
- Focus management: Focus indicators are visible and follow a logical order through interactive content.
- Plain language: We write in clear, plain language and avoid unnecessary legal jargon. When legal terms are required, we provide explanations.
Testing
We test our website using a combination of automated and manual methods:
- Automated testing with axe-core on every release
- Lighthouse accessibility audits as part of our CI/CD pipeline
- Manual keyboard navigation testing
- Screen reader testing with VoiceOver and NVDA
Known Limitations
While we strive for full accessibility, some limitations may exist:
- Embedded calculator iframes from app.madeforlaw.com may have different accessibility characteristics. We are actively working to ensure these meet the same standards.
- Some third-party content (external links to court websites, bar associations) may not meet the same accessibility standards.
- PDF reports generated by our tools may not be fully accessible. We recommend using the on-screen results where possible.
