Terms of Service

Last updated: March 30, 2026

1. Introduction

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Made For Law website, free legal tools and calculators, educational content, and professional embeddable calculator platform (collectively, the "Service") provided by Made For Law LLC, a trade name of Good Smart Idea LLC ("GSI", "Made For Law", "we", "us", or "our"), an Ohio limited liability company. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

2. Service Description

Made For Law provides free legal calculators and educational tools for consumers, families, executors, and anyone navigating the legal system, as well as a professional embeddable calculator platform for law firms. The Service spans multiple platforms:

  • madeforlaw.com — marketing website, free tools, educational content, and guides
  • portal.madeforlaw.com — member dashboard for law firms (billing, licensing, embed management)
  • app.madeforlaw.com — embeddable calculator engine used by law firm websites and our free tools

The Service includes free tools that require no account, and professional features available through paid subscriptions.

2.1 Not Legal Advice

Important: The Service provides legal information and educational estimates only. It does not constitute legal advice, create an attorney-client relationship, or replace professional legal judgment. Made For Law is not a law firm and our team are not attorneys. All calculations and outputs should be verified by a qualified attorney before use in any legal matter. See our Legal Disclaimer for full details.

2.2 Government Non-Affiliation

Made For Law is an independent private company. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or connected to any federal, state, county, or local government agency, court system, bar association, or other governmental or quasi-governmental entity. Our tools use publicly available statutory data, fee schedules, and regulatory information. We have no special access to, relationship with, or endorsement from any government body.

2.3 AI-Assisted Content and Tools

Portions of our content, tools, calculators, and research are developed, drafted, or assisted by artificial intelligence ("AI") systems. This includes but is not limited to: educational articles, calculator logic, state-specific legal research, cost estimates, and data compilation.

AI-generated content and outputs are inherently prone to errors, inaccuracies, hallucinations, and omissions. While our editorial team reviews AI-assisted content before publication, we cannot assure that all errors have been identified or corrected. AI-generated legal research may cite incorrect statutes, outdated fee schedules, or inapplicable legal principles.

BY USING THE SERVICE, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT AI IS USED IN THE CREATION OF CONTENT AND TOOL OUTPUTS, THAT AI OUTPUT MAY CONTAIN ERRORS, AND THAT YOU WILL INDEPENDENTLY VERIFY ALL INFORMATION WITH OFFICIAL SOURCES AND A LICENSED ATTORNEY BEFORE RELYING ON IT FOR ANY LEGAL, FINANCIAL, OR PERSONAL DECISION.

2.4 AI Data Handling and Third-Party Providers

Certain premium features, including AI-powered case insights and document analysis, utilize third-party AI language model providers to process calculation data. We do not share your personal identifying information (such as your name, email address, phone number, or physical address) with these AI providers. Only anonymized, non-identifying calculation parameters (such as state, county, estate values, income figures, and case type) are transmitted for processing.

While we take reasonable measures to anonymize data sent to AI providers, we are not responsible for how third-party AI providers handle, store, or process the raw computational data they receive. Each AI provider operates under its own terms of service and privacy policy, which may differ from ours. By using AI-powered features, you acknowledge and accept this limitation.

You may use the Service without AI-powered features. AI features are clearly identified in the interface and are not required for core calculator functionality.

3. Eligibility and Account Registration

Free Tools: Our free calculators and educational content are available to anyone without registration. No eligibility requirements apply to free tool usage.

Professional Accounts: To register for a paid professional account (e.g., to embed branded calculators on a law firm website), you must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials
  • Be located in the United States

You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

4. Subscription and Payment

4.1 Free Trial

We offer a 14-day free trial period. During the trial, you have full access to the Service. A valid payment method is required to start your trial.

4.2 Subscription Plans

After your trial period ends, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid plan:

  • Pro Monthly: $49 per month (1 site)
  • Pro Annual: $499 per year (1 site, equivalent to $42/month billed annually)

4.3 Billing and Renewal

  • Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled
  • You will be charged on the renewal date using your stored payment method
  • All fees are in U.S. Dollars and exclude applicable taxes
  • We will charge applicable sales tax based on your location (currently 8% for Ohio customers)
  • You will receive email reminders before trial expiration (7, 3, and 1 day before)
  • Payment receipts will be sent via email for all successful transactions

4.4 Cancellation and reimbursement Policy

We offer a 14-day free trial so you can evaluate the Service before committing. You may cancel at any time:

  • During your free trial: Cancel at any time — you will not be charged. No payment is processed until the trial ends.
  • Monthly subscription: Cancel at any time from your account settings. You will retain access until the end of your current billing period. No reimbursements are provided for the remaining days in a billing period.
  • Annual subscription: Cancel at any time from your account settings. You will retain access until the end of your annual term. No reimbursements or pro-rated credits are provided for unused time. The annual discount reflects a commitment to the full term.

All fees are not reimbursable except in the case of billing errors (e.g., duplicate charges or incorrect amounts) or as required by applicable law. If you believe you were charged in error, contact us within 30 days of the charge for a full reimbursement of the erroneous amount. Approved billing-error reimbursements will be returned to the original payment method within 5–10 business days.

No further charges will be made after cancellation takes effect. Cancellation does not delete your account data — you may reactivate your subscription at any time.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree NOT to:

  • Use the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
  • Violate any applicable laws, regulations, or legal advertising rules

6.1 License Grant

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for your internal business purposes.

6.2 Your Content

You retain ownership of any data, calculations, or content you create using the Service ("Your Content"). By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to use Your Content solely to provide and improve the Service.

6.3 Prohibited Use of Our Content

You may NOT, without our prior written consent:

  • Scrape, crawl, or use automated systems (including AI/ML training pipelines) to extract, copy, or reproduce our content, data, calculations, or tool outputs at scale
  • Reproduce, republish, or redistribute our state-specific legal data, statute citations, fee schedules, or calculator outputs on competing websites or applications
  • Use our content to train, fine-tune, or improve machine learning models, large language models, or AI systems without explicit written permission
  • Frame, mirror, or create derivative works from our website or tools
  • Remove, obscure, or alter any copyright notices, trademarks, or attribution

Personal, non-commercial use of individual tool results (e.g., printing a single estimate for your own reference) is permitted.

6.4 DMCA Notice Procedure

If you believe that content on our Service infringes your copyright, please send a DMCA takedown notice via our DMCA takedown notice form with: (a) identification of the copyrighted work, (b) identification of the infringing material, (c) your contact information, (d) a statement of good-faith belief, and (e) a statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate.

7. Data and Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. Our collection and use of personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

Data Security: We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot assure absolute security.

Data Backup: While we maintain regular backups, you are responsible for maintaining your own backups of important data.

8. Service Availability and Modifications

8.1 Service Availability

We strive to provide reliable Service availability but do not assure uninterrupted access. We may temporarily suspend access for maintenance, updates, or due to circumstances beyond our control.

8.2 Modifications

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Service at any time. We will provide reasonable notice of material changes when feasible.

9. Disclaimers and Limitations of Liability

9.1 Service "As Is"

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, TIMELINESS, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

9.2 No Legal Advice — Assumption of Risk

IMPORTANT — PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:

Made For Law is NOT a law firm and does NOT provide legal advice, legal services, or legal representation. The Service provides educational information and computational estimates only.

BY USING THE SERVICE, YOU EXPRESSLY ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT:

  • All calculations, estimates, and information are for educational purposes only and may contain errors, omissions, or outdated information
  • No attorney-client relationship is formed between you and Made For Law, its employees, or affiliates
  • You will NOT rely on the Service as a substitute for professional legal advice, and you will consult a licensed attorney in your jurisdiction before taking any legal action or making any legal or financial decision
  • Laws, regulations, court rules, fee schedules, and tax rates change frequently, and the Service may not reflect the most current legal requirements in your jurisdiction
  • Courts have broad discretion in many areas (including fees, timelines, custody arrangements, and property division), and actual outcomes may differ materially from any estimate provided
  • County-level and local variations exist that our tools may not capture
  • YOU ASSUME ALL RISK associated with your use of the Service and any decisions you make based on information or estimates obtained through the Service

9.3 Tool-Specific Disclaimers

Without limiting the generality of the foregoing disclaimers, the following tool-specific limitations apply:

  • Probate & Estate Tools: Probate costs, executor fees, and timelines are estimates based on statutory guidelines. Actual costs depend on estate complexity, contested matters, creditor claims, and judicial discretion.
  • Statute of Limitations Tools: Filing deadlines are critical legal rights. NEVER rely solely on our estimates for filing deadline decisions. Tolling rules, discovery rules, and exceptions vary by claim type and circumstance. Missing a statute of limitations can permanently bar your claim.
  • Divorce & Family Law Tools: Divorce costs, custody arrangements, and property division are highly fact-specific. Our estimates cannot account for contested issues, complex assets, custody disputes, or domestic violence considerations.
  • Estate Tax Tools: Tax calculations are estimates only. Federal and state tax laws are complex, subject to frequent change, and depend on factors our tools cannot evaluate (trusts, deductions, prior gifts, marital status changes).
  • Guardianship Tools: Guardianship proceedings are among the most complex and consequential legal proceedings. Court oversight, bond requirements, and guardian qualifications vary significantly. Professional legal representation is strongly recommended.
  • Power of Attorney Tools: A defective POA can be worse than no POA at all. Signing requirements, witness rules, and statutory forms vary by state. Always consult an attorney to ensure your POA is valid and enforceable.

9.4 Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, MADE FOR LAW LLC, ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, AFFILIATES, SUCCESSORS, AND ASSIGNS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, USE, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO:

  • Your use of or inability to use the Service
  • Any reliance on calculations, estimates, or information provided by the Service
  • Missed legal deadlines, including statutes of limitations, filing deadlines, or court dates
  • Inaccurate fee estimates, tax calculations, exemption amounts, or cost projections
  • Decisions made based on information that was accurate when published but subsequently changed
  • Any damages resulting from the use of our tools in connection with actual legal proceedings
  • Unauthorized access to or alteration of your data or transmissions
  • Third-party conduct or content accessed through or in connection with the Service

THIS LIMITATION APPLIES REGARDLESS OF THE LEGAL THEORY (CONTRACT, TORT, NEGLIGENCE, STRICT LIABILITY, PRODUCT LIABILITY, OR OTHERWISE), EVEN IF MADE FOR LAW HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES, AND EVEN IF A LIMITED REMEDY SET FORTH HEREIN IS FOUND TO HAVE FAILED OF ITS ESSENTIAL PURPOSE.

OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF: (A) THE AMOUNT YOU ACTUALLY PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100.00). FOR FREE TOOL USERS WHO HAVE NOT PAID ANY FEES, OUR MAXIMUM AGGREGATE LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED $100.00.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Made For Law, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to:

  • Your use of the Service
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any applicable laws or regulations
  • Your Content or any content you submit through the Service
  • Your violation of any third-party rights

11. Termination

11.1 Termination by You

You may terminate your account at any time by cancelling your subscription through your account settings or by contacting us through our contact page.

11.2 Termination by Us

We may suspend or terminate your account immediately, without prior notice, if you:

  • Violate these Terms
  • Fail to pay applicable fees
  • Engage in fraudulent or illegal activities
  • Pose a security risk to the Service or other users

11.3 Effect of Termination

Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease. We may delete your account and data within 30 days of termination. You should export any important data before terminating your account.

12. Dispute Resolution

12.1 Informal Resolution

Before filing a claim, you agree to contact us to resolve disputes informally. We will attempt to resolve disputes in good faith within 30 days.

12.2 Binding Arbitration

IF INFORMAL RESOLUTION IS UNSUCCESSFUL, ANY DISPUTE, CLAIM, OR CONTROVERSY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE (EXCLUDING CLAIMS FOR INJUNCTIVE OR EQUITABLE RELIEF) SHALL BE RESOLVED EXCLUSIVELY BY BINDING ARBITRATION ADMINISTERED BY THE AMERICAN ARBITRATION ASSOCIATION ("AAA") UNDER ITS CONSUMER ARBITRATION RULES (OR COMMERCIAL ARBITRATION RULES FOR PROFESSIONAL ACCOUNT HOLDERS). ARBITRATION SHALL TAKE PLACE IN CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OHIO, OR AT ANOTHER MUTUALLY AGREED LOCATION, BEFORE A SINGLE ARBITRATOR.

The arbitrator's decision shall be final and binding and may be entered as a judgment in any court of competent jurisdiction. The arbitrator shall apply Ohio substantive law. Each party shall bear its own costs and attorneys' fees unless the arbitrator determines that a claim was frivolous, in which case the arbitrator may award reasonable attorneys' fees to the prevailing party.

12.3 Class Action Waiver

YOU AND MADE FOR LAW AGREE THAT EACH PARTY MAY ONLY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THE OTHER IN AN INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY PURPORTED CLASS, COLLECTIVE, CONSOLIDATED, OR REPRESENTATIVE ACTION. THE ARBITRATOR MAY NOT CONSOLIDATE MORE THAN ONE PERSON'S CLAIMS AND MAY NOT PRESIDE OVER ANY FORM OF CLASS, COLLECTIVE, OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING. IF THIS CLASS ACTION WAIVER IS FOUND TO BE UNENFORCEABLE, THEN THE ENTIRETY OF THIS ARBITRATION PROVISION SHALL BE NULL AND VOID.

12.4 Time Limitation on Claims

ANY CLAIM OR CAUSE OF ACTION ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE MUST BE FILED WITHIN ONE (1) YEAR AFTER THE CLAIM OR CAUSE OF ACTION AROSE. ANY CLAIM NOT FILED WITHIN THIS PERIOD IS PERMANENTLY BARRED. THIS LIMITATION APPLIES REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THE CLAIM SOUNDS IN CONTRACT, TORT, OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY.

12.5 Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Ohio and the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.

12.6 Jurisdiction

For any claims not subject to arbitration, any legal action or proceeding shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of such courts.

13. General Provisions

13.1 Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, and Legal Disclaimer, constitute the entire agreement between you and Made For Law regarding the Service.

13.2 Amendments

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or through the Service. Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13.3 Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

13.4 Waiver

Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not be deemed a waiver of such right or provision.

13.5 Assignment

You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your rights under these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms without restriction.

13.6 Force Majeure

We shall not be liable for any delay or failure to perform resulting from causes beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, war, terrorism, riots, embargoes, acts of civil or military authorities, fire, floods, accidents, pandemics, strikes, or shortages of transportation, facilities, fuel, energy, labor, or materials.
